Ok, so awhile back I did an overhaul on a dead 359 I picked up on the cheap. Part of my overhaul routine is to replace fuel line, filter, and tank vent. This particular saw had the large vent puck. I know some saws came with a smaller vent puck that seats deeper into the vent port on the tank.

So, the issue is that the darn thing leaks fuel when the saw is laid on it's side. This is not the first time I have come across this. I checked the vent port visually for damage and it looked fine and the new puck seemed to pop into place as it should. I have noticed that the small pucks seem to seat a bit more snug though. So here is what I am wondering, can a small puck be used instead of the large puck?? Can both be used simultaneously to ensure against leaks? Or would either arrangement not allow the tank to vent properly?? The only model I have come across with the small puck at this point is a 346XP/OE. Makes me wonder if the fuel demand of the larger displacement saws require the larger puck???

It's an annoying issue, and I'd like to try to rectify it..

If yall will allow me a serious post on this thread for a second.. just looked on some parts diagrams and it seem that BOTH are supposed to be used... Pretty sure my dealer set me up with just the large outer one... Bet that's my problem... Just ordered both, will report back results.

Back to the puckin' show! :D

Had the same issue. Used the new style vent that looks like a funnel. Gutted it. Set in tank with motoseal. Ran fuel line from that into carb box and capped it with an am universal vent.

Another way to do it is to take your soldering iron and SLIGHTLY melt the plastic over the disc or the newer style vent to hold it in...no motoseal needed.

After my 346 went boom boom all over itself and got all hot and melty I put an Echo vent in place. (after some other new plastic) Problem solved.

Just thought I would remind people to use husqvarna fuel lines when replacing them as "their" line is a different size outside diameter then any others are, this is proprietary to husqvarna, and if you use other lines leaks will also occur, the husqvarna line looks like a pigs tail, when you but it.
