I was offered a husky 2100 for 200 bucks. Supposedly runs great and is in decent shape. I dont know much about huskys, how does this compare to a 395? I searched but didnt come up with much info yet, more googling to follow! And the best question for last, how much better do these perform after sticks puts his MMWS stamp on the cylinder?!? Going to check it out tomorrow!

The 2100 is a much older design than the 395. It has a rigid intake block, less forgiving anti-vibe, and the ignitions are more prone to failure. They've also been out of the primary market for a long time so many parts are NLA (ignitions, covers, air filters, and starter parts are becoming hard to find). They're a stout machine though and a good runner is fun to put in the wood with a sharp chain- lots of guys made a living for years with 2100s.

Ok boys, let me know how i did... 175 bucks.. seems to be in pretty good condition and guy said it hadnt been started in about a month. She fired on my third pull. Seems to oil great. 40ish" 404 oregon bar with 4 chains, 2 short on life and 2 with lots of life left. Got it home and pulled the exhaust, p&c look pretty damn clean to mee!! Top of piston and exhaust port have pretty good carbon build up tho.. is that normal for a husky thats older than mee? Haha!20170909_123311.jpg

That's actually an 1100cd. All the same saw the 2100 is minus the manual oil pump.

Soo then do u think this saw has a replacement 2100 recoil cover on it? Or did 1100's also come in 2100 skin? The guy i got it from said his dad bought it new in the 70's and mainly only ever used it on a mill. Any advantages or drawbacks to the auto oiler over the manual? It sure seemed to pump out the oil, the old girl marks her territiory everywhere she goes! Haha

I'm not positive but I heard they may have come with plastic recoil covers which were quickly changed out to the metal 2100 one. Maybe someone with that knowledge will chime in to correct or confirm.
You probably won't need any extra oil, but you'll always have the option to upgrade to the 2100/2101 handle if you can find one. There's a channel already cast for the auxiliary oil line that just needs drilled to fit a barb. 20170909_155117.jpg
I'm not positive about the throttle rod/ linkage conversion though. I'm assuming it's switchable without any mods.

If I remember the 1100 had a thinner recoil, which broke due too compression. Plus had the half plastic handle. I run my 2101 daily, as JJ mentioned not all parts are available. But the stuff can be found around here ebay etc. I have a 395 as well. We cut big wood most of the time, tree work and downed stuff as well. The manual oiler over ride is a nice feature, can't say I have needed it much. Because all my huskies oil like crazy. In big logs or falling a big tree the 2100-2101 has an edge on torque with longer bars. As JJ mentioned more vibration than the 395 for sure, but I also have a 3120 with a big Cannon bar. Im not man enough to run all day. I use my 2101 quite a bit because it's almost the perfect saw between the two. I grab the 3120 only when I need that bar, but it's a pain to change the bar so I don't play musical bars. The 1100-2101 saws have durability and dependability like no other. It's great in general tree work or wood cutting. Of I was a Timber faller daily, it would not be my first saw choice. Good call chainsaw Him on spotting the model. O.p great score
