Skip chain, IMHO, when used to cut lots of short material is very hard on the PTO side of the saw. Easiest way to think of it for me is an 8 tpi sawzall blade cutting thin material vs 20 tpi. Lots of vibration.

I've never known properly sharpend skip to vibrate at all. Misuse of the saw or poor sharpening skills I'd say.

Fallers out west that run long bars and skip, also limb with the same saw

All I can think about is the dozens of people on the Facebook chainsaw groups that run skip on everything, so they can stretch their bar length, and put a 20" on a MS250 or 28" on a MS291. They probably also can't sharpen properly, or tune properly, so think about the abuse their poor saws are going through.

Yeah, big bars aren't meant for little saws. I never understood the reason people think skip will give their saw more power. It all comes down to, if you know how to sharpen a chain
