How long ?

So a tree service crew was clearing a bit of brush and smaller trees for the neighbor next door. I got to listen to the hum of a chipper for 2 days straight, which really doesn't bother me much but listening to the saws run all day and never hearing a single saw "4 stroke" out of a cut was killing me...how long do you let a perfect stranger run a saw that's not tuned before you let them know you do "repair" work ?
