How do you unclog or replace 026 oil tank vent?

My owe 26 will not will the chain unless I have the oil tank Cracked
if I tighten all the oil tank lid it shuts off oil coming out Of the oiler hose.
This is a non pro oiler and idle so I can see with the bar off.
I tried to rinse out the tank with gas and also tried to use a pipe cleaner to get in from the outside.
In 1/4 tank of fuel used so little oil I can't really tell and the bar and chain is much drier than it should be.
Anybody got pointers or methods?
Thanks
Travis

There is a one way check valve in the vicinity of the chain tension adjusting screw. It is round and sort of silver in color and has the slightest hole right square in the middle. It lets air in, but no oil should come out. If you probe the center hole with something like a sewing needle, it will unseat a tiny ball held out by a tiny spring. I can't remember if an 026 has a cover plate or not. If so, you will need to remove a single pan head screw to get the sheet metal cover off.

According to my dealer, some saws need this treatment pre-delivery. He always checks every saw he sells. This is where I would start for sure. (small and easily clogged)

I think you can replace that vent by simply punching it into the oil tank then fishing it out through the oil cap hole. Then just push another one into the hole.

That was what I was looking for thank you both.

Let's punch some vents

All it is is a little valve that's made up of a spring and rubber flap. To test blow through it with your mouth, it makes a fart-like noise when you do. Don't go sticking needles, picks or any other silly things that will puncture the rubber and render it useless. You should be able to blow from the side with the vent hole but not the other way. Most times a clean in soapy water and some compressed air will clean it, they are $2 to replace but for me and hour drive for a $2 part means I clean them and put em back in. When putting it back in tap it 1mm past flush with case.

It hasn't been mentioned but a very worn pump will act the same way. It doesn't pull enough to overcome the one way valve but with no resistance it will push the oil out.
