That looks like an AH-58 Power Products motor but as far as the chassis goes, it's missing a lot of the identifying parts. I know Terrell had one with a configuration like that, as did Lombard.

That looks a lot like a workshop doorstop, and a dirty one at that! :p

On a serious note though, I have not a clue what it is. o_O

I was hoping to find someone that wanted to give it a new home. It has some good parts left.

It resembles an AH 47 .I'll check after it stops raining. However I've never seen one mounted horizontal which is not saying it wasn't done .

All the 47s I've ever seen (I have three) don't have a bolt-on separate head. The 51, 61, and 58 have the bolt-on head. There's also a smaller motor that I think had the bolt-on head, maybe the AH-36.

Dayton Orange, Lancaster maybe.

When I first seen it last evening I thought that it might be a Lancaster SLA20, there was one around here some where but the rear handle didn`t have the finger grooves IIRC.

Now it is a puzzle.I just looked at 4 saws with PP engines, two with AH 47 engines two with AH 58's The 47's and 58's both had removable cylinders ,in pic it doesn't appear to be so on that engine .The 58's had a removable head, the 47's did not but had bolts to hold the shrouding in place .Both models used induction into the bottom of the crankcase which is not to say side induction would not work if that be the case .
I have a 580 Westbend kart engine but I didn't think to look at it a few minutes ago .
What ever that engine is it almost appears the thing might have to be accessed the similar way a Mac reed valve engine is .There's no parting line so it isn't a clam shell .No removal cylinder that's visible ,about the only way left to get into it .

Another thing, you can see the mold marks going from the crankcase clear up to the top of the cylinder and due to fact it says PP it must be a model less popular than either a 47 or a 58 of which I have no clue what that could be

Aha,maybe .According to Mike Acres site PP made a model 440 which was 70.5 cc that had a "unit" block supplied to various chainsaw manufactures as OEM engines .Might be it .

The engine head is removable, it also has a bolt on plate at the front of the crankcase under the gas tank. It has a small plate that is on one of the plate bolts.

If it is fact a "unit" block it would have have a removable side plate like a Mac reed valve or a Briggs and Stratton else there would be no way to remove the crank shaft .--more research---

I showed my brother the picts of this saw from the start of this thread, he took one look and said, find a pict of a HLA 50, he worked on a lot of old Lancasters. They were not my forte, I know a bit about Pioneer saws.
