I'm 2,000 miles in this summer just back and forth to school. I'm not selling.

Yes I have worked on the 317.

Kawasaki Powersports and Kawasaki Small Engines are 2 different types of dealership.
Neither of which built or service the engine that I mentioned

Did the engine parts come from Kohler?

Yes, and what makes you think parts are not proprietary to Deere? Take for example the Deere 317 lawn tractor. It had a 17hp Kohler engine that Deere bought from Kohler. What folks did not know is Deere made Kohler alter essential parts making them proprietary to only Deere. I believe a main one was the crankshaft. Now flip forward to the 425 model. That was a very prolific model sold by Deere and had a Kawasaki engine. Have you ever tried buying engine parts for one from Kawasaki If so you found out that the engine was built by Kawasaki but is proprietary to Deere and a Kawasaki engine dealer has no access to parts. I am betting if you tear into a Deere compact tractor you will find a Yanmar dealer will not be able to get you many of the parts you need

I replied to your post above regarding the 425…

At the time I worked on the 317’s I was employed at a John Deere dealership. The parts came from Deere.

Had you tried to get the parts from Kohler you would have been told to speak with Deere as they were proprietary to Deere.

The Kawasaki Mule I mentioned is another chit show on parts.

I never had to worry much about loud noises. I would work on my stock car at all hours. The neighbor had a drag car he with leave a bit of rubber from on the feedlot. My cousin to the south had a few, well still does have a few drag cars. Never had and issues with Harley guys. They do not like to travel dirt and gravel roads. Today you see a few lost Iowegians with the rice burners and fart cans.
