Sucker is worn out. I have seen that happen on a oe346. Bearing pocket wallowed out.

I’m just doing a 572 with exactly the same! Got a new pair of case halves with bearings ready installed. Luckily the crank was ok.

I've heard of the 572's doing this and have seen it various times with 372 x-torq. I wonder if their alloy is a little softer than some other brands--maybe it's got more magnesium.

I thought magnesium is metal.

Maybe magnesium creep is to blame? Nothing lasts forever especially when the things are built so thin and light.

Only Stihl use steel pressed in sleeve in their PTO side as I'm of aware of. It's steel cuz I have one rusted lol.

Wearing bearing pockets out is typically caused by crank shaft flex.
Suzuki Lt500R quad has bearing pockets open up often. All sort of inserts have been used to fix the issue with the best being HMW plastic believe it or not.

Some model saws are prone to this it seems. Isn’t this the reason for using loctite in the bearing pockets on said saws? I know numerous Husky models, I believe some Dolmars, etc. I suppose it can happen to any saw with the right conditions. I always cringe when I see people run super tight chains.
