Biggest problem I have with shooting in general is my point of focus doesn't want to stay on a single point for more than a second or two. I've been doing backyard practice with my .22's at 25-30 yards alot lately. 50-60% of rounds are right on the money, wherever the front sight was pointed. Others are up, down, left, right. I don't really know how else to address it other than more practice.

Do you guys know much about the red dot sights? Like what’s a good brand to start with, I think if I do go that route I’d want a real low profile unit. Other than that I’m clueless. Never had any
Primary Arms. Get the Micro Dot, if you want smallest profile, get the MD-25, if you want a bigger lens to look through. Both have "auto live" (turns on automatically) and 50k hour battery life. Lifetime warranty.

Made a big mistake and went to the fun store after work. Under the glass they had a Sig Sauer M11-A1, the military version of the P-229. I've been lusting over them for years. It is in good used condition with original box and three factory mags. Surprisingly, they were only asking $600.00 for it. New they are over a grand if you can even find one. The only used one I've ever seen was $900.00.

The manager could tell I was about to capitulate, and she said I could have it for $575.00 and do a six month layaway. I accepted the checkmate, and put some money down. The Sig P-220 series are my favorite bottom feeders after the Browning Hi Power. My first 9mm was a Sig P6, the single stack version that spawned the P228/229, and I've always kicked myself for letting it go. So, this one is not getting away!m11a1-2023-update.jpg

Ida know, that price looks unrealistically low and they have a physical address but only do online sales? Business hours only 9am-3pm. Too many warning signs there. They might be a real business but one of those places that never updates their website and will take your money for something that has been backordered forever. The $750 sale price might be from 10 years ago. If everywhere else charges $1100 for it then that would have to be way below wholesale price.

You’re right. I was just browsing today and saw that. I didn’t research them though. I’ll delete the post.

I have one I bought new. It's a nice pistol except for that stupid label on the dust cover. Removing it was my first upgrade.

I didn't notice the label on the dust cover and the finish does have some honest holster wear, which I don't care about. The grips are nice looking aftermarket wood but too fat for my taste so I'll probably put some OEM plastic grips on it.

Interestingly, the actual military pistol is the M11 which is based on the discontinued P228. The 228 is a double stack version of the P6/P225 whereas the P229 was slightly larger to accommodate the .40 and .357 rounds. The 228 was discontinued before Sig rolled out the civilian market version of the M11, so the M11-A1 is actually a 229 built to M11 specs, including the plain dust cover. In order to make it more authentic, the M11-A1 originally came with P228 grips but now comes with P229 grips.

The more I think about it, I'm glad this opportunity presented itself, even though this is the brokest time of the year for me. I seriously doubt I would ever be disciplined enough to save for a new one as I did my Browning Hi-Power, and this is only the second used one I've seen in my entire life.

Fired 6 rounds of 308, at my 10x10" steel plate at 300 yds. 175 grain match kings, kept having to wait for the plate to stop swinging. Too icy to get out and put up a paper target for groups. Supposed to warm up and melt the ice flow. I hope. Nice gun @FergusonTO35 .

I’d love for you to go long distance shooting with us in Texas. I go with some cop friends and some guys that were in the Marines.

My farthest hit is about 1475yds. The other guys go over a mile.

Would love to come do some long range stuff. My boy want to hunt all over when he gets out of the Marines next year. Texas has been mentioned. Might take you up on the long range shooting offer.

That could possibly be just the ammo. It seems to me that consistency isn’t great with 22ammo at least the stuff I shoot.

Thats friggin’ redonkerous, that is some nice shooting & has to make a guy feel warm & fuzzy all over hitting something at those distances.

I certainly have experienced that with some lots of Thunderbolts in handguns. They have always been GTG in my rifles, suprisingly. 99% of my centerfire ammo is my own reloads.

Why wait for the plate to stop? More fun when you can keep connecting on a moving target.

Does anyone know of a place I can find open sights for a mini 14? I hate the peep type aperture rear sights, don’t want to scope it, just want regular old iron sights. So far have not been able to find any.
If you get used to the Mini’s factory peep, you’ll learn to love it. My Mini can put 5 shot in a softball at 200 yards with the factory peep sight. I’ve killed coyotes at that distance as well. It’s a rugged and reliable gun and those sights work very well.

I made the chains too long, so it sometimes provides a side view if I hit too close to the edge. Plus. I am old and slow anyway. Lol

I can still use sights quite well out to 60 yards or so. Beyond that, I have a very hard time being able to tell exactly what spot I am aiming at even with a six o clock hold. I've gone to scopes on almost all of my hunting rifles for this reason.
