Can I hear your honest thoughts on the gx4 carry? It looks to be a competitor to the 365xmacro, canik Mc9ls,& s&w shield X. Is It true that the owners manual states not to carry one in the chamber? Or is that a rumor lol
First off I’m a bit biased because of my horrible experience with a Taurus and what they call their lifetime warranty but even that considered I wouldn’t put one as a competitor to a canik, cz, Glock, sig, s&w, ruger that costs twice as much and personally for a carry gun i wouldn’t even consider a Taurus just because I don’t trust their quality control after my raging bull episode. I believe if you feel you need to be carrying and have even the slightest thought you may need to use it to protect your life it needs to be reliable and to me they aren’t good enough but that’s me. In that price range I would much rather have a ruger lcp max or one of the other striker fire rugers. I do realize all companies can and do have issues but how they handle them and if it gets fixed and back to you fixed the first time is important. I had a super Blackhawk that i bought used the either had the barrel that wasnt straight with the frame. No idea it is was on ruger or if previous owner had barrel out and got it in crooked or what but ruger repaired it the first time and did it for free. The Taurus went in 4 times before it finally felt and seemed to function well, I have no idea if it was truly fixed or not because I traded it away at a gun shop with the paperwork saying it was repaired. I also told the owner of the shop exactly all that had went on so he knew the story and why/how many times it took to get it fixed and why I had no desire to see that gun ever again.

Well their manual also still states not to carry with one in the chamber unless necessary. Not confidence inspiring.

Appreciate it, I've only run about 150 thru it so far. New revolvers in the past I've sat in front of TV and worked the trigger a couple thousand times without letting hammer drop all the way and they've smoothed out considerably. Think I'll find some fodder ammo and run a bunch thru this thing before dicking around with trigger, sear or striker work. I really wasn't expecting super smooth for the price but Taurus revolvers I've shot had pretty nice consistent triggers.
I've had some very nice triggers on both Taurus and Rossi revolvers.
I have had several glocks and hated almost all the triggers on them
My gen 4 Glock 23 .40 and 30s .45 had the best factory trigger's out of all I owned so I kept them
Every Taurus I've ever owned or shot has had better trigger's IMHO than glock.

I don't recommend taurus anymore
Not because of any issues I've had over the year's I bought g2c g3c g3c then moved on to the gx4 later the
Gx4 carry came out also have the tx .22
tx .22c and a couple of the ts9s
I have many thousands of rounds though them and never had any pistol related issues I really like all of them.
Did have some dead primers in .22 mostly.
I do carry with one in the chamber that's just lawyer speak in case of lawsuits probably.
The carry is excellent imho I've also tried sig
365s,hellcat's,fn reflex and I have a couple of the shield plus's they are my favorite micro compact around 350.00 sometimes with rebates for optics ready with night sight version's
I've never shot the Kimber mako feels nice in hand.
My problem with Taurus is not in what I have owned
It's their terrible non existent customer service
Several times I couldn't get my mag or gift card rebates to go through
And even though I registered every pistol I bought they do not recognize me as the owner because
The places I bought them from online didn't give me anything they recognize as proof of purchase.
Essentially I got bills of lading and I'd have my purchase order with amount but
It doesn't matter to them.
I just needed a roll pin for the back strap of my ts9 it wasn't included with my pistol
They simply refused because I couldn't prove ownership.
Screw that I go to other manufacturers now.
The arex delta is my new favorite budget pistol absolutely well made accurate and excellent trigger
239.00 often.

Thank you for the honesty. That is a real shame. Beretta pulls the same sh*t unfortunately. They’ve been running rebates on their APX a1 full size and compacts for the last 2 years. The gun is very tempting because of how cheap It is after the rebate. The only issue is that they’re not responsive when It comes to honoring the rebate on It. Supposedly they’ve switched to instant rebate on a couple websites which I would now be curious to buy one during the rebate. They’re so cheap and are reliable from what I’ve seen. They’re a bit bulky and I wouldn’t consider them a carry option. I was eyeing the arex delta & the IWI Masada for a while but sourcing the IWI was almost impossible last I checked

That being said the gx4 and even the tx .22
Arex delta,canik series,m&p 2.0 series,cz p10 series
Are at the top of my striker fired trigger favorites.
Taurus needs to completely rebuild their customer service from the ground up
They do have some very good products but no support for them.

I agree, I’m probably going to get a Mc9ls soon. Have you had a chance to check out the new m&p shield X? I’m intrigued by It but I’m gonna wait till it’s been out for a little while

No interest from me the shield plus's and gx4 and gx4 carry are all I need.
I'm into more comfortable guns to shoot now
The micros are excellent for carry but snappy and you really have to focus more in them for accuracy
Now for the range I'm into mid and fullsize pistols.
If I sell a few old guns off
I'm kinda looking at the rost martin ported rm1c
I've never had a ported pistol.
The rost martin are made in texas from arex delta patents they are redesigned from the original Slovenian pistols.
My arex mags will work in them.

The Taurus .38 and .357 revolvers are nearly always a safe bet, and you can get pretty much any part you need from Fleabay. I have a late model 85 at Taurus right now. The barrel is twisted a little bit to the right, causing my shots to place left. It groups well and is dependable, so I'm hoping that they can handle this one very simple repair. If they can't, my gunsmith will. My Taurus 856 and 83 have been great, and I'm not sure that they would be any better if S&W or Ruger had made them.

I've never fired any of the beretta apx series
Lots of positive reviews on it though
I remember the honest outlaw guy recommended them for their price and reliability
Didn't feel comfortable to me but everyone has different tastes.

My only Beretta is a 92 I bought back in the 90s. I love it.

That’s understandable I went from a g43x to a m2.0 compact and now I’m looking at getting a j frame just for ease of carry and concealment.

The APX is bulky and heavy too. Personally if I’m going for bulky I’d rather consider a PDP

I had an APX for awhile. It was 100% reliable and as accurate as my other striker guns. What irritated me is, the pistol was 2-3" low at 15 yards regardless of what ammo I was using or whether I was being a good trigger puller that day. So I made some test targets with different types of factory ammo and sent the gun to Beretta. I get it back with a test target showing 2-3" low just like I was complaining about and a terse note saying something like "accuracy is within specifications". Geez, they could have thrown me a bone and installed a shorter front or taller rear sight just to pretend like they actually care. Or even send me an e-mail stating the gun is within spec but for a fee they would install the aforesaid sight so at least I would get some improvement.

The gun itself did seem to be a quality piece but had no advantages over anything else so I sent it down the road. When I buy a Taurus or Rossi, I accept the fact that I'm playing a slot machine and the cherries might not line up. But I pull that handle because the price is pretty low and they make some guns that aren't available anywhere else. Beretta has neither of those attributes.

So I heard an interesting thing about the recoil spring in the apx. Apparently It likes hotter ammo and sometimes has issues with 115 grain. But I’m assuming if you’ve had 100% reliability from It you’ve sent everything through It haha. I think for $250 it’s pretty hard to beat the apx a1 for someone who is on a budget and needs something reliable. Definitely wouldn’t be my only gun though

Well, at $250.00 you are into Taurus price range so then it would be a decent choice. I have no doubt that my APX was a good gun, but so are many others. Beretta's total we don't care attitude soured me on it.

Carrying a j frame is wild. You forget you’re even carrying It sometimes. I tried out a s&w 642 airweight and was thoroughly impressed

Love my 637, it is more accurate than alot of full size revolvers. I feed it 3 grains of Accurate Nitro 100 under a 150 grain LSWC. Clocks 700 fps and is very accurate and easy to shoot.
