Guard Pad

I am using an Echo CS-450P chainsaw. The guard pad (part C302000000) fell out of the chain brake assembly when I was taking it apart to clean it and I cannot figure out where to re-install it. The parts diagram doesn't show its location clearly.
Does anyone know where that part is installed? I've attached pictures of the part. It's about 2 inches long; rubber.
The chainsaw seems to run well without the part installed; will it damage the machine if the missing part is not re-installed?

That goes in the back of your clutch cover - there should be corresponding slots or pegs that it fits on (#13):
