So, the deal of the day is a Golf piston that fits a 550xp. Good, bad, ugly?? I have no intention of grinding on it to improve it if needed, so if stock or another brand is EXTREMELY superior please let me know.
I've never seen one first hand. If it's reasonably priced its worth comparing the old one to be sure the dimensions are the same I suppose.
With the deal of the day it is $12.96 to my door.I really hope that it is a viable option, OEM 550 XP pistons are outrageous.

That is a deal! I mentioned this in another thread last week, an OEM piston is $126.87 cylinder kit is actually cheaper $119.95.
Joe
13$ is well worth the gamble, since OEM piston cost more then P&C cost in US you cant loose anything by giving the Golf piston a chance.
OEM piston cost 100$ in Norway, P&C kit cost 360$.
Wish we had your guys prices on P&C, 120$ is a bargain.
Anyone know why Meteors isnt making 550 pistons?
I`ve been contemplating the entire cylinder/piston kit but I have not had time to take it apart and evaluate the cause of the scoring and hate to buy unneeded parts if the cylinder can be cleaned up. I suppose $13 isn`t much to take a chance with so I`ll post up some comparison pics when it arrives...
it doesnt look like they doing any new pistons, dont know why, maybe their future is to quit the whole piston section. Is Meteor doing any new pistons these days?
+1It's tough to find one of these jugs that will clean up if it's scored bad.
I`m about 1.5 hours north of you. I lease a farm in Glenville, too. Maybe one day you, Dall, and I can meet up down there this summer.Ripley twenty miles north of charleston.
We used a bunch rebuilding dirtbikes years ago some people hate them but they've been in business a long time.
