Scheduled for the 17, a custom paint job to make the Ram look a bit more compact and sporty.

I played with AI, and got a rendering that closely matches what I want (hood strips and rocker panels). Here ->

I found a guy in Spokane that will do the work and at what I consider a very good deal.

Here is his quote ->
This is what I have as a estimate with labor and material included:
Hood stripes: $150
Strip on each door: $75x4 doors= $300
Truck bed stripe per side: $150x2 bed sides=$300
Fender stripe: $10x2 fenders= $20

Total estimate for the job: $770

Looks good to me! Back when I had my Mustang I seriously thought about giving it a similar treatment.

Ewww...Spokompton...I try to avoid that place, except when my wife wants to go to Hobby Lobby or we have to go to the airport and then its a 2 hour drive to get there, so luckily we don't go that often!

That rendering looks pretty sharp!!

My first attempts to find someone to do the work, was in Missoula. Would not answer emails, so I went to the business to ask in person. They said they don't do that kind of work, and only do insurance collision repairs. So I asked who then. Nobody they said. It's all vinyl wraps today. I knew that was BS. Painters on YT all over the place. So I turned to craigslist, which I imagine is all single space garage work, word of mouth, inexpensive and take your chances.

It is a truck not a 1/2 a million $ Ferrari.

I've had rocker panels done before, and even did it myself once, which turned out okay. I am curious how the guy is going to do the hood. I hope he doesn't have to take the hood off the truck, but that does seem to be the simplest way. Maybe he has some scafolding so he can stand over the hood and sand and spray down. IDK.

Can't be worse than Yakima.

Yesterday was Ram painting day. I'm happy. There is some edge issues with the hood strips. I'll see about removing them with some polishing compound and if that doesn't work I'll run some red vinyl pinstriping to cover it up.

Here are the pictures ->

I was really surprised when returning home. I got the Ram up to 80mph and set the cruise control. Flat and straight over a good 10 miles or so. Steady constant 26 miles to the gallon. The trip was 110 miles each way, over two mountain ranges and total average mileage was 24.5mpg. Amazing for a truck making 305Hp and weighing right around 5000lbs.

3.6L V6. More then enough for my towing needs. Just firewood, just less then a cord per trip. I did look at the V8s and the shutting down cylinders seemed like a poor idea before i even started to read the horror stories. And i wasnt about to go with the turbos. Just one more thing to go wrong. Growing up turbos were for the drag strip and Mad Max like movies.
