I got an old champion generator that i use to run my welder sometimes and while back the 220 30 amp breaker popped and would not reset. I ordered a new one through champion and when i got it i noticed it said 30 amp and 13.5 trip amps.
The old one said 37.5 trip amps.
So now it will barely ru the old 220 stick welder on a low setting lime 20 to 30 amps which it ran it fine befor. Also my little 110 volt welder it wont run it on the 20 amp 110 out let or the 30 amp 110 outlet. I contacted them about it and told me it shouldnt matter.
I think its the wrong breaker. Whats yourScreenshot_20241219_231135_Gallery.jpgScreenshot_20241219_230729_Gallery.jpg thoights.
Couple pics of breaker. I got original breaker pic bit not the one in it now. Found a pic of one like it though
Its a 6500watt continuous

I looked up the part number on the breaker in your first picture. You state that is like the breaker you installed. Check the P/N on your actual installed breaker and see if it is the same. That first picture appears to be a 10 Amp breaker incorrectly built with 30 Amp plastics.

This is what I found with that P/N:

Good eye, zoomed in and full load amps says 10.

Something doesn't add up. Info on the net suggests your OEM breaker is indeed rated @>30A. Chicom amps must differ from 'merica amps. lol

As you've seen, a 30 amp breaker shouldn't be designed to trip at 13 amps; the trip amps should be somewhat higher than the baseline rating. They've given you the wrong breaker.

I will try and get a pic of the breaker in the generator tomorrow morning. I ran out of time today.

Danka! I spent 40 years designing power conversion circuitry. I've seen a few problems. I've caused a few problems.

In this case I suspect but don't know that someone on an assembly line cased up a 10 Amp breaker in 30 Amp plastics and then applied the correct side label. Given the photo is other than the OPs exact item, I wonder how many of these are out in the field.

Anyhoo the OP needs an actual 30 Amp breaker as opposed to a 10 Amp breaker in 30 Amp plastics.

@merc_man - feel free to use this note in any way that helps you exchange for a correct part. Tell your vendor to verify that 30 is printed on the plastics, 30 is listed as FL Amps and that trip is a higher number than 30.
