I grabbed 2 of these 026 "OEM" case gaskets off of eBay.

They look nothing like what is advertised in the pic of the solitary gasket and nothing like the gasket in the oem set pictured next to the 2 gaskets I've received.

The eBay seller has become quite defensive about me questioning him, stating that I am accusing him of a "Bait and switch".

These look AM to me. Were there other OEM manufacturers? It's possible that the seller doesn't even realize he is selling AM, but his advertised picture is certainly different than what he is sending out.

He has excellent feedback as well.

I have been building this model for over 10 years --the OEM package you have posted is all I have ever seen. The black gaskets pictured are not OEM.

Why they not packaged in stihl plastic wrappers backed with card stock.

They are just really old. Bulk paks.
I've seen these at 2 different dealers around here.

I should have clarified.

I was referring to the pic of the packaging he posted on the AS thread.

I bet they are OEM

All of this BS coulda been avoided by a correct pic or an explanation.

The seller should have posted the pic he showed on the AS and explained they were older OEM gaskets.

There's a reason he didn't.

Doc, I worked at LI Power Equipment for a while when I was a kid, and still keep in touch with them regularly.
I've never seen anything Stihl in bulk packaging, they've allways had one item in a very well labeled package.
I showed the owner this thread and he took less than a split second to say that they are aftermarket, and he proceeded to show me his AM replacement parts, some in bulk packaging ................. they we went past the Stihl parts. There wasnt a single thing that didnt have Stihl all over it, and every single one of them were packaged individually. He commented that if he could get Stihl parts in bulk, he would.

I've seen 3 clutch springs together, but, again, they had Stihl all over the bag, and a Stihl part number on a sticker attached to the Stihl bag

My dealer has the 1122 and 1128 case gaskets in plain packagi g with no backing. They're green and look like the ones in the whole gasket set.

I am really surprised that a refund hasn't been issued here. It is the right thing to do.

I'm not agreeing with what was sent from the purchase picture but,

I just talked to one of the dealers that I mentioned earlier.
He has a sealed package from Bryan Equipment, his supplier, Stihl packaging on the shelf with a black case gasket in it.

Most, if not all gaskets I recall seeing on the older saws like 034's & 044's that I've split and rebuilt......were black, not green.
All of the replacement OEM case gaskets I have seen in the last 5-6yrs have been green, not black.
Gnome sayin?

This doesn't make Al's situation right however.

But, no matter what color the gasket is/was, were they all in Stihl packaging ?

I have been ordering Stihl parts since the mid 70`s and even if I ordered a dozen case gaskets from Stihl they came individually packaged in Stihl logo wrap on card stock backing with stenciling . If a Stihl dealer had loose or multiple gaskets they were aftermarket, all Stihl gaskets I ever came across, even tearing down old saws like 08`s had stripes and print on them, never found a plain non stenciled gasket in a Stihl saw. AM gaskets were usually just plain non stenciled materials like the Doc got.

Then Bryan Equipment has been sending their dealers aftermarket gaskets for decades I guess.
