Gasket Question

I grabbed 2 of these 026 "OEM" case gaskets off of eBay.

They look nothing like what is advertised in the pic of the solitary gasket and nothing like the gasket in the oem set pictured next to the 2 gaskets I've received.

The eBay seller has become quite defensive about me questioning him, stating that I am accusing him of a "Bait and switch".

These look AM to me. Were there other OEM manufacturers? It's possible that the seller doesn't even realize he is selling AM, but his advertised picture is certainly different than what he is sending out.

He has excellent feedback as well.

Yep I would have to say bait and switch doc, probably the 1st person to call him out on it, I have been told that as long as they are not shiny that they seal ok, but if he advertises as oem then that's what I would expect, since that is what you paid for.

I coulda bought 20 AM sets, which would include a jug base gasket, for the same price.

Not a big investment, more a principle thing.

I have a strange suspicion that he got cheated himself and doesn't realize they are AM.

Yep. I haven't seen other colors for Stihl oem yet.
Not only are oem green, but the better quality AM gaskets are green as well.

I hope Weedeaterman or HLsupply keeps these style kits. Seals and cylinder gasket were perfect. The case gasket will go in a future build. I trust it.

It is clearly a case of ,bait n switch, whether the seller knows it or not its his responsibility to know his product. The seller has to change the listing, if it actually shows a pict of an OEM gasket and states its OEM then it must be an OEM you get. Open a claim if the seller digs in.

I've used a few AM gaskets. As documented by Mastermind and MasterMech on FHC, the waxy yellow-ish gaskets as used in the 460s are junk. They dont have a good feel and failed in a couple builds. I chuck em in favor of a $6 oem gasket.
I've used a Huztl short 066 / 064 gasket. It was black like yours-- seemed solid, perfect fit. I slobbed sealant on it and put it in. No issues 2yrs later.

Agreed. Ebay will make it right and he will have to change his ads.

He asked me to ask there, only to chime in on the thread. He said I'd get an "unbiased opinion" on the AS.

Think he didn't realize his AS screen name is on the Pics. His eBay name differs.
