Is there any gasket maker in a tube that is ethanol friendly? Need to reseal a homelite 150 auto gas tank.

None of the gasket makers I’ve tried will take direct contact with gas and ethanol. It had a gasket didn’t it? If it did best off making a new one

Is it a screwed together tank? I don’t know about the 150’s but years ago some homelite saws had glued together tanks that failed. They recalled them and put screw together tanks in place.

My suggestion would be to buy a thin sheet of gasket paper. Trace out your tank with a small ballpeen hammer onto the paper. Then use your sealant you found. I would be a little leary that sealant alone would be enough. Just a suggestion. Tim G.

Ive always had good luck with Permatex Moto Seal on crankcases, never tried it on a fuel tank though.

3m weather strip adhesive. Also known as monkey snot. Is what omc used to seal tanks from the 70's up to the early 2000's. It comes in classic yellow and now more discreet black.

Good luck ever getting it apart if you go that route.

Motoseal is supposed to be resistant to gasoline, and is made for exactly that purpose, sealing case halves.

Sealed the tank on homie C5 with motoseal. No gasket. No problems. Make sure you let the motoseal cure for a day or two before adding fuel

DAM how many times you sealed up them case halves?

Too many times. Threebond kept failing to seal around the oil filter and it would push oil into the cooling system.
