My trimmer wasn't running right so I put a new carb on it. Started and runs good for a couple of minutes. It builds enough pressure in the gas tank to make the engine run rich. The gas even comes out of the grommets in the tank.
I changed caps but to no avail.

I'm wondering what is causing the pressure buildup?

I don't think so, but worth considering.

Check or replace tank vent.

Did you check your muffler screen and make sure it's not plugged. Had a saw do that. As said also check tank vent.

Check or replace tank vent.

I was just working on one myself and the vent is in the cap. Hence why he said he had replaced it.

I am wondering if one of the gaskets in the carb isn't messed up on the new carb and causing part of the impulse to feed into the purge line and into the tank. But I don't know if that is even possible.

I changed the primer assembly using the old primer block. Works great now. Must be that the check valve on the return leaks even though it's new.
Thanks for your ideas and help!
