Next GTG we need to organize some saw specific (026, 036, 460 type) Runoffs. As well as some for you Husky guys. Some fun games there. [emoji106]

Does runoffs mean all saws are run without airfilters? I'm gonna need some better wood. We seem to have the chains down!!

Thank you HL Supply, the seals that were supposed to come Wed came yesterday!!! Of course, our mail service sucks, so they did not come till 6:15 PM.

Could not wait to finish dinner and get working on it. Carefully put the seal in, didn't even bother with the oiler or clutch, fueled the saw and went out to start it. Damn think is hard to turn over, and won't start. Have to push the button every time I pull the cord, and it won't start. Even though I carfully cleaned it and tightned it, I SPUN THE FLYWHEEL.

So I pulled it, marked where the key was on the shaft, cleaned the shaft & flywheel again, and re installed it. She started, idled fine, but then I shut it off and COULD NOT GET IT TO START AGAIN!!!

I pulled the flywheel again, but it looked like it was still lined up just fine ... what the crap is going on!!!! Was so frustrated, did not even post about it last night.

Just a challenge Mike! Not a nightmare. That's what these saws are, a puzzle.

This morning, I pull a flywheel key from a dead MS460, only cut it .020 this time, and install it and the flywheel in the 660. Still hard as Hell to turn over, it starts, idles fine, I shut it down, and it will not start again!!!

By this time I'm getting furious, thinking I have to pull the jug 105 on the Ex with .021 squish may just be too much for a saw of this size, etc. etc.

Then I get a hold of myself, calm down, calm down, you have seen this problem before, you have fixed this for other people ... you are getting fuel in the case!!!

I pull the carb, it passes vac test, but not pressure, a slow leak down, I pull the snorkel and the lever is set too high. I fix it, but it back together, and it passes vac & pressure. I put it all back together, pull the plug, roll the saw 180 degrees, and sure enough fuel drips out the plug hole, that is the problem!!!!

It still won't start, so I figure it needs to be dried out. I pull the plug and take a lunch break. Also, replace the plug with a new dry one.

FINALLY, IT STARTS & RUNS AND WHEN I SHUT IT OFF I AM ABLE TO RE START IT!!!!!!

I'm glad you didn't let it beat you!
How did it feel in the wood?

So now I install the oiler and the clutch, and go to put the top cover on. The Plug hole is off in the Top Cover, I have to modify it (enlarge on the bottom) or you can not install & tighten the plug.

I put a B&C on it (20" is all I had around) and put it in some wood. Then shut it down, re started it, and cut some more!

It is just breaking in, so no comments on how strong it is, but it is well mannered, and it re starts after I shut it down.

I CAN NOT EXPRESS HOW RELIEVED I AM!!! This build was a great learning experience, but it has been very stressful. Will my bearings work, will a ring hang, will the oiler work, can I fix the dang carb, will the flywheel stay in place, etc, etc.

FYI, I used all the bearings that came with the saw, including the wrist pin. However, I did use OEM used 460 clips, flywheel key, and chain adjuster (I ruined the one that came with the kit). I'm really glad I had the broken 460 available. Saved me from a lot of parts orders.

I even still have the FarmTech fuel line and filter in it, and would be using the plug if it did not get so wet! I have used their plugs in other saws w/o any problems.

I guess if I ever do it again, I will be more relaxed, and expect problems that can be resolved, but this was like a test that included a few curve balls!

Best of Luck to everyone else who is working on one, and Happy 4th of July to everyone!

Don't let it whoop ya lol Mine seems to be running good. Have to wait on a worm gear and the kit was missing the air filter mount so all I can do is let it idle and piss rev a bit. Seems good but idle is a little crazy from time to time. Seems to be getting better with every heat cycle.

Feels good Dan, but also feels like it can benefit from some break in. I'm just so relieved it starts and idles and did not blow up. Between the flywheel issue and the carb, I can't tell you how many times I pulled that damn cord!!!! And my right shoulder is bothering me, so I've been doing it lefty!

Forgot to mention, the fuel cap leaked, had to use one of the extra spare gaskets already.

I see another AM one I purchase uses an O ring instead, may try to find one the right size, seems to work well.

Ran it again a little before dinner, and it is starting to feel stronger. But it is still tough to start, need to push the decomp every time. At least now after it is warm it does start easy using the decomp. (FYI, the top came off the decomp so I replaced it, I have a small supply).

Is this just the function of a 92 cc saw with .021 squish and 105 Ex, or do you guys thing that carb started leaking some fuel into the crankcase again?

Sometimes, you don't hear it pop on choke, a real PITA! I'm starting to think I should have either raised the Ex or installed a .010 gasket.

Your squish shouldn't be causing that at all

Could the low Ex be doing it, or is it likely I still have a fuel leak into the crankcase? My other Cross on the 066 has .020 squish, but a higher Exhaust and feels NOTHING like this.
