Put the carb on last night. What usually takes me less than 5 min took almost 1/2 hour. Nothing fits quite right.

The metal insert does not want to stay in the intake boot.

The carb does not want to slide over the studs.

The impulse nipple missed the impulse line.

The fuel line did not want to go on the carb, and when it did, it was too long and kinked, so off it came and was shortened.

The plastic shroud did not want to fit on the case.

The metal doohickey did not want to fit in the plastic.

Everything had to be forced to get the nuts to start.

But, I GOT IT DONE!!!!
Had all the same experiences with mine.

so let me get this straight, there are 3 classes, and you all is trying to graduate from 1st grade, 2nd grade, or 3rd grade depending on the work being done.

it appears to me ya'll is cheating, reading each others notes.

The white AM filters have a nice gasket that, in my experience on 1122s and 1128s, seals nicely.

But... some are made "crooked" so like anything else AM, double check before install. I have about 8 of 'em and have them on a 460 and two 064s. Time will tell if they hold up.
(Nice to post about this here, AS wasn't too friendly to 'em).

The HD2 when new is great. Get about 2 gallons in milling or more and they start stopping up. Have to be washed to remove the mix in them that's holding fine dust. If I got to do that a max flow us the way to go.

Mike, are you milling with them, or just cutting wood? I think the finer milling dust jams em up much faster than chips.

We did a test on the dyno with my 460. Can't remember the results...thread on it somewhere.... but I use the white AM ones now, so it must have done pretty good.
In fact I think they flow better when "dirty" if I remember correctly.

My memory just jogged, if I remember right you were very pleased with how the AM filters performed, but you did NOT test it against and HD-2, you tested against an HD, which is not a pleated filter.

When ever those dynos are up and running again, I would like to see the test of HD-2 vs AM.

I tried milling with them and the tune kept wandering too much as they plugged up. There's no tapping them out when they get like that. They have to be washed or thrown away.

Yup, my dads 460 wouldn't run right. Thought the filter was clean, banged it out and blew it out with air. Still sucked. Pulled airfilter off and it was fine. Switched to the AM and been good since.
So possibly new the hd2 flow better, but I'll take easier maintenance.

I have used HD-2s for years and never had a saw "not run right", although with about 2-3 years on the 362, it did slow the saw. I doubt an AM would do any better, but would love to see any tests that anyone does.

I have used both for a while, and now have more HD-2s on order. FYI, the cut test I did (and the times were very close) were with used (not new) filters.

I think the HD-2s are easier to "tap out", maybe I just make bigger chips!

That's what I meant Mike. Just felt off. Of course now that I have a ported 460, it always feels off...
