This is the first time spinning my own chain and noticed the outer edges of the rivet cracked. I greased was he side a couple times during the process and went slow to make sure it didn't get them to tight. Can someone explain to me what I may have done wrong or help me from having this issue in the future. The chain is Carlton and the spinner is the Oregon unit.

i think i saw where someone said was too much pressure and not spinning it enough before giving more pressure so it kind of crushes it

Thanks Dallas. I have a lot of learning to do but I sure thought I was spinning a lot and slowly bringing in the pressure. Is it safe to use the chain or should I break it and start over?

I spin a lot of Stihl chain. I spin it kinda fast and keep adding pressure. I can do a video Sunday if you need. Takes less than 10sec per rivet. Is your spinner small and only hits in the middle? Mine covers the whole rivet. I've only used Stihl

It took me way longer than 10 secs per side. If you don't mind making a video I would like to see another. I have been doing lots of looking at threads and videos on this.

That chain is FINE. You are on the right track, i.e. good lube, slow pressure, plenty of spinning.

Yeah maybe not 10 of spinning. I was thinking by the time lined it up and spin each rivet. Spin it like someone's chasing ya. Lol

i thought the heat from friction would make the rivets spin better
