A few months ago I had replaced the oil line on one of my 036s and it had been oiling well. However, This last weekend I noticed that it wasn't oiling the 18" bar. I was hoping that there wasn't something wrong with the oil line again. I noticed that the spring on the worm (my terms might be incorrect) had broken off.

Anyone ever had this happen before? I was able to replace the spring with another I had had so I have it all together now.

I wonder if I didn't have the groove on the clutch drum aligned totally and it wore through by the friction of the clutch drum rubbing it? IMG_3927.JPG

Yes, sadly I've gotten good putting those on. I'd rather not do another though. I'm glad I noticed it since it didn't jump out at me right away.

I ruined a kit and a half replacing oil lines on an 036. Finally got it right. Too much heat it melts the line... too little heat and it kinks when pushing it on the nipple... talk about frustrating... lawd!

Stihl recommends drilling out the hole in the case a little. That really helps with the install.
I didn't have a problem fishing the line through the hole in thae case at all, unless someone was in there and already drilled it... the hard part was getting the fuel line on the nipple.. that plastic fuel line is hard as a carp and as forgiving as my wife.... has to be an easier way. I've heard someone tell of using ice maker tubing... wonder if that holds up to the heat or not??

I won't use any other line besides the Stihl oil line kit. Boil water, and drop the end of the line in it. Lube the pump nipple with silicone grease, and make a pair of these.

The info on the size of the hole is include in the kit.

I have seen the very tip of the drive arm wear off and not make enough contact to turn the arm on several high hour Stihl saws, sometimes I catch them when the tip is worn as sharp as a needle, just before they break off. These are on high hour saws that are actually used in production cutting jobs so there is no maintenance til something breaks. When it won`t work any longer then it gets brought in for repair.

Did you know Mr. Howell from Gilligan's Island did Mr. MaGoo's voice? I think they used him to model the cartoon man from his looks, too.
