Thank you.. Just wanted to make sure it wasn't a mistake in the listing that stated it was pulled from a 359.

Nice tractor!! 26 series Farmall??

Love the old Farmall big diesels!

My brother in law has a 756, 856, and 826. These are workers and he has overhauled the 756 and 856. The 826 is on deck for a block...

OK, on that Walbro HDA 175: Does it take the same K24-HDA kit as the 199?? And does it suffer from the same issues requiring the hole being drilled in the diaphragm cover?

Well fellas, I think I did good.

I scored that HDA175 from the bay for $27.99 shipped. Cool thing is, the air filter mount, choke control, and kill switch assembly was included, and I will be needing those parts. :)

I know it is missing one of the diaphragm cover screws but that shouldn't be a big deal...

Here it is. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Husqvarna-359-Chainsaw-Carburetor-Assembly-/262276413795?_trksid=p2047675.l2557&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&nma=true&si=s%2BSRCRJ9HpLkqxgNszKB%2Fh7JOwM%3D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc

So I already have the carb, a bar, and a top cover coming for it, and the saw isn't even here yet!... Wife is gonna KILL me when she checks the bank account! LMAO!

First saw I ever ran was my Dads Jonsered 455. No, not a big time "pro" saw, but what a darned nice saw!

We still have it and we need to diagnose and address the first problem it has ever given us or Dad since he bought it new in about 1986.

Might as well have been a 372 being that it was known as "Dads BIG saw" to us back then. Lol! My boy just made his first cuts with his Homelite 340 a few weeks ago. It was a gift from my father in-law that needed some work.

My 359 arrived today! :aplastao:

I'm excited to dig into it..

It's actually a little better than the pic showed. It looks like it will clean up right proper! From what I could tell with a quick wipe with a rag in a couple small spots after I opened the box, most of the dinginess is just oily residue and wipes right off. Color seems to be pretty fair under the oil spooge and doesn't appear to be sunfaded too badly. :)

Few more projects for other people to wrap up, and a few more parts for my 359 to round up and disassembly will commence!

Well, I got the 359 PH cleaned up today. I am quite happy with how well it cleaned up.

I also received a nice lightly used Oregon 18" bar and good used top cover today (thanks ny15!) And that too cleaned up quite well.

I think this is the makings for a darned descent saw here. Need a few more miscellaneous pieces of hardware and then of course my new rebuild parts... I'm planning to get a couple more items next payday.

Pics to follow when I get on my laptop. Phone takes too long.

Probably not going to be a super fast build, money is a little tight right now..

But I will be certain to keep the thread updated as progress is made.

Were you going to put a 357 top end in it?

I

Not big on new ppl running a top handle for leverage reasons a small rear handle yes. Kick back gives no warning and don't care who or what is in the way

I've heard this beat to death on every fricken forum I've been on.

I tell you what....

I learned on a top handle because it's all dad could afford. We cleared acres with that little saw. Cut wood that was way too big for it. But it got the job done. It taught me basic saw handling and maintenance. Ran that saw for 15+ yrs with trouble free use.
That saw is now well over 20yrs old and finally gave up the ghost last year.
Dad moved to Fort Lauderdale and took the top handle with him 5yrs ago.
He called me last summer to tell me the news and to ask opinion on a new saw.
I talked him into having spike60 ship him the last 346 that he had.

The top handle saw I speak of.......yeah..... It was a mini Mac. Eager Beaver 2.0 to be exact.
Damn near bullet proof. Least the one we had.

So.......I don't buy the top handle sh!t.

Besides..... Tell me how a chainsaw is safer to use while in a bucket or on a set of hooks?
Nonsense!

I will say this I have a mini mac. I'm scared to use it. But the brake doesn't work on it either. But if taught to use it properly it's no more dangerous that any other machine. Most problems come down to operator error.

You can really wake up a stock 359 with some light port work and a muffler mod and your cash outlay would be very low. Save up for build parts with a smile on your face ;)

Actually I am not. I already have a 357 that is running no base gasket, lower transfer matched to case and beveled/blended with a dual port muffler.

This 359 is going to be rebuilt as stock.

Forgot to add: This saw is an '03

I like a top handle for bucket truck work. We have an old 338xpt at work I use frequently during tree season. If we are taking down a whole tree, once I start blocking down the main trunk/trunks I have my crew pass me up the 550xp. Once I get that 346 OE back together and running, that will be my bucket saw for heavier work that's a little much for the top handle.
