The model 27 is an N frame in .357, Blue or Nickle. . The model 28, called the Highway Patrolman, has a matte blue finish and was a bit cheaper than the 27. The N frame .41 mag is the model 57 in blue and the model 657, in SS.
Thank you for the info

Lol well im not a gangbaner nor have i ever been fyi nor is ted nugent .thats kinda getting into racist type comments .i know balastics and reload and i am entiteled to my opinion. And so are you.if you feel or know that the 10 mm isnt heavy enough round you didnt have to be so neg and derogitory in your opibion about the weapon
I also only made the statement that some people carry the 10 mm for bear protection and mountain lion and That its a great round and i personaly have it,but again that makes me no gangbanger nor is it a tupperware pistol.i assume you made that statement cuz its polimar.lets face it look at all the semi autos today except the 1911 they seam to follow in glocks shadow i personaly would probably carry something a little bigger if i lived in alaska. As well like a 44 mag 500 454 casoul 41 mag. Etc as well.any weapon will kill if correct shot placement.prime example jack o conner writer for outdoor life made the 270 win. The popular round it is today. And that it is he even spoke how great it was as an elk round. Can you kill an elk with it sure.would i elk hunt with it myself of course not i would use 7mm mag. 300 mag.338 270 7mm or 300 short mag for elk myself no further comment. Thank you

K series smiths are a great piece. I kick myself for not buying one in 41 mag one time
I've looked for any reference to a K-frame .41 mag and can't find one. S&W doesn't indicate they ever made one. Even if you could chamber a K frame in .41M, there wouldn't be enough metal around the barrel shank to handle the pressure of the .41M.
Are you sure you saw a factory .41M on a K-frame?
I'd really like to see one, it sounds interesting.

Didn't Ruger make a 3-screw in 41 mag?
I believe so.
I know they still make the Blackhawks in .41M, I've got both a standard BH and a Flat top.

Ok, thanks. I was intrigued by your posts. You said it was a K-frame and a five shot. I can't find any indication that S&W made either a .41M on a K frame, or a five shot .41M.
I have a M57 Mountain gun in .41M, built on the N frame, and thought a .41M on a smaller frame would be great for concealed carry.
Maybe Ruger can/will do a five shot .41M on the GP100 platform.

If I'm walking in the woods it is usually my Glock 20 (10mm) loaded up with Underwood 220 grain hard cast flying at 1200fps. It's plenty for anything I will encounter in Michigan two or four legged:)

Great round i have a mo 20 woods and mo 29. Concealed carry myself.its a great round.ahes making a comeback startibg to gain oopularity.whats funny is people knock it and the 40 cal.357 sig and the dillion 9x25 came of the 10 mm cartridge.its ballistics are damn near equiviliant to a 41 mag.

Sounds like a full power load. Did you have to change out the recoil spring?

I did bump it up a couple pounds but didn't really need to. I was upgrading my guide rod to stainless steel anyway. I don't remember what spring I used

Thats ehy its equivialint to 41 mag if loaded right.yes you do have to upgrade the recoil spring if going to a round that hot.it keeps the slide from slamming back and beating the gun up.it also helps eith the recoil

I also swapped to a Bar Sto barrel so I could safely shoot solid lead. It's a thumper for sure
