I have a couple 55 husqvarna saws that I have opened the exhaust and the plastic on the chain brake cover is melting. I was looking for pictures or ideas of a fix for this. I was thinking of bending a piece of metal and putting some rivets through the plastic and metal. Little worried about that the heat might transfer through the rivets and melt out the holes in the plastic. Also was thinking of piece of metal and a speed nut ( clip with thread through it) and putting a screw in it, Thoughts?

Muffler isn't 2 piece. Try bending the existing deflector to guide ex up. Cut everything out of the deflector that hangs down in ex. path, trim bottom flange that hold screen. I have bent some alum break metal w/rivets worked OK.

I just brazed the original exit shut and drilled a hole and brazed a deflector I made from 1" square tube.20160219_081648.jpg
