So tell me about availability of any parts for that s model saw as in piston rings etc?

I picked one up tonight that is in need to f rebuild and missing some parts as well. It’s no shelf queen.

If practical enough I would like to get it running.

Parts are more available for the 900 than they are for the 1001. I've owned two of the 900s - they don't turn up real high but they've got a lot of grunt.

They're good old saws. Watch ebay and Craigslist for parts saws. There used to be a member at AS that had a huge Echo stash but he dropped off the
scene a long time ago. I haven't even seen him on Facebook recently.
