Echo SRM 410U ?

My husq brush cutter sht the bed during a paid job to thin alder brush along a dirt road.

Need a replacement purdy quick. Anybody have experience with the SRM 410U? Anything out there comparable in that $500-$700 price range?

Got 9 years intermittent use out of the husq.

We have a 410u. Bad azz machine. Will cut anything. Only issue was we left it with fuel in it during prolong storage and I had to clean the carb out once. Other than our bonehead move we have had no problems.

They're not quite the machine that a 545fr Husqvarna is but not nearly there price wise either. I had someone twist the driveshaft on one but that was due to using a severely bent blade. To be fair, they regularly tear up clutches/gearboxes in their Husqvarna 345/545's.

Thanks guys. Are the rpms and torque purdy good on echo? Can you adjust the carburetor ok? What about the vibration, does it have decent anti vibe?

They run nicely. It has high and low carb adjustment, although it has limiter caps you would need to remove first. They have fine engine antivibe although there is no additional antivibe in the handle assembly.

I don't know what harness you use but this guy really takes the weight of the 410u off yourself!

Thanks again, ordered the srm 410 u. Looks like a driveshaft is $40. I'd rather that go out, than the gear head.

Ran my first tank of gas through this brute. The 2:1 gearing makes for a torque monster, whereas my old trimmer/brushcutter had 1.67:1 gearing.

The guard screws loosened up so used loctite when i tightened them.

Hands were a little tingly after running a tank through it. Darn thing would buzz through alders thick as my forearms! I'm hoping this brute becomes available soon with the more modern AV in the handle:

just seeing this, yesterday i was given a 410u that at first glance looks to be only missing the driveshaft, glad to see they are available for a reasonable price. gearbox is a little crunchy but theres a pile of parts i havent gone through.

Kinda lost finesse and mobility running 20+ lbs of trimmer in harness. Appropriate for brush, thick/tall grass and weeds, but too much for typical grass/weeds around valuable objects and gardens.

Ended up grabbing an Echo srm 225 and it's surprisingly powerful. Its over 1 lb lighter than the Husqvarna 128ld that it replaced. The length on the SRM 225 is almost as long as the srm 410 u. The guard is smaller than the husq. Can get into some really constrained places. The speed feed 400 head is fkn sweet!

Tore down the Husqvarna 128 ld. The open transfer ports did not support the piston ring very well. None of the ports were beveled very well either, very sharp edges. The srm 225 has nice closed quad ports. Thought I'd rebuild the husq, but this srm 225 will retire that husq 128ld.

$930 for both the srm 410u/srm 225 combo and all bases are covered.....

Husqvarna 128ld

An extremely low bar when it comes to trimmers. Did you take a look at the hole in the muffler about 1/4" in diameter that all the exhaust exits? Or maybe you had modified that.

It wasn't too bad of a stringer trimmer. Yep opened up the muffler on that 128ld. Did the same with the srm 225.

Tach is showing 9400 rpms with a full spool of .095" string and strings out to cutter-length. 2 tanks of fuel, full throttle entire time, medium brown on the spark plug.

Dang, the mufflers on both the srm 225 and the srm 410u sure are choked up. Took the burr grinder to both.

It's been a good little workhorse. Like the honda rancher 350, a big bear 350 is a very basic, cheap little tractor. Traded a low miles 6.2 diesel engine for it, cheaper than a chainsaw. It hauls slabs n brush, year after year.

We worked on a couple of late 90's/early 2000's Honda 350's for a customer. When he came to pick them up he dropped off a much newer Polaris 550. I was shocked by how much more refined the Hondas felt than the Polaris--the Polaris (CVT) is so jerky, but the wet clutch on the Hondas makes for a beautiful smooth engagement. I expect your Yamaha has a wet clutch as well.

Yes sir, I prefer a wet clutch/solid rear axle rigs. Ideal for skidding. Most recreational riders despise non-cvt stuff. Gotta run a special wet-clutch oil though. Regular oil will damage the clutch packs over time.

Honda makes footshift/solid rear axle 520 cc rig, which is rare nowadays. Expensive though.

Bout the best of the used foot-shift/solid rear axle ATV's is the 2006 or older suzuki vinson 500. Nobody wants em, but that vinson was a home-run. You don't end up with that "honda-word" premium price on the used market.

Have you done anything to the muffler as far as bypassing removing the catalyst? My srm2620 bogged down in taller grass until I removed the cat. Probably doesn’t matter on a 42cc trimmer/cutter.

Neither model had a catalytic muffler.

Just a restrictive baffle and a tiny deflector opening.
