I have a Echo pb 770T backpack blower that I had disassembled down to the engine block but can’t get the fan off the crankshaft housing as it is stuck. I’ve already removed the nut holding the fan impeller on, sprayed pb blaster on the shaft end and screwed the nut back on to protect the threads from damage as I hit it with a hammer but to no available will not bulge. I also didn’t want to use heat because I didn’t want to melt the plastics or housing around it. I tried using a puller with the hook ends reversed to grab under the inside hub of the fan but it kept slipping so I’m at a loss right now. Anybody else had success at this?

I’ve done a few, screw that nut back on to almost flush with crank. Get your free hand behind fan as best you can for pressure. Give it some good wacks, not taps. I usually use a 24 oz ball peen. If it doesn’t pop in 3-4 hits, add more oil and wait. Try again.

I have a regular 16oz hammer will that work too? So i should hold the fan with one hand and then Wack the loosened nut on the crankshaft with the other hand until it comes loose?

Correct on procedure, and yes a 16 oz will suffice.
