The saws are kept in my garage which is always 40-50 F in the winter. They had been in the back of my truck for about 40 minutes when I went to use them.
Last winter there was a discussion going on how much carburetors need adjusted summer vs winter. I knew there was a significant weather change coming up so I checked the RPM’s on a saw when it was in the 70’s and then a couple days later when it was in the 20s. There was no measurable difference in how it ran, but I don’t remember what fuel that was (likely winter blend).

A couple of curiosity questions about a 4910 I recently acquired in the Home Depot closeout sale:

Is there a better fuel cap available for it than the one that requires a screwdriver blade to loosen it, hopefully one with two studs like the oil cap uses? I'm hoping something off another saw might have the same threads, as it appears the oil and fuel caps on this saw are not the same thread/size?

Why in the world did Echo decide to use a nut to hold the sprocket and clutch drum on, on this particular saw? None of the Echoes I have, from older to newer, use anything other than an E-clip in this application - except the 4910.

Thanks!

The 4910 is a Shindaiwa designed saw, hence the unique aspects. As far as the fuel cap, did you try a 620 cap?

Makes sense, thanks for the information!

I thought I had tried a 620 cap at one point, but looking at the parts list I see they share the same size o-ring, at least. I'll have to try again, but I'm thinking something was different enough that it didn't work. Or maybe I'm thinking about a different saw... LOL

Well, you were right, the 620 cap does appear to fit and seal. I haven't run it yet but have left it sitting with a full fuel tank and it's not leaking, even though the O-ring does hit in a little different spot of the case rim between caps. I thought that I had tried this once already, so thank you for prodding me into trying again!
