Got a couple echos in an auction that I haven’t decided what I’m doing with yet. I will pick up today and see if they have good compression ect. One is for sure a 602vl and the other i believe is an echo 701vl but that’s just from the pictures. From what I gather the 701 is fairly rare and this one looks like an echo not Deere or craftsman version.

Got the saws and they both turn over good compression but need more cleaning. Was a 601 not 701 though just was guessing buy looks before.

Looks to me like you may have a 701 with a 601 starter cover. My 601 looks a bit different.20240521_064053.jpg20240521_064104.jpg

Gave my CS-501P some exercise today on some kind of newly fallen hardwood (birch I think) and was impressed. Saw is factory stock other than a carb tune and wears an 18" bar with .325 Husky X-Cut semi chisel. Buried it deep in the trunk and she just gets down to business and makes it rain chips. I don't get the impression that this is at the top of this saw's capabilities either. She was mostly four stroking and the carb tune is just slightly richer than factory spec.

Honestly, I don't think I would be any happier with another 50cc saw regardless of brand or price. Unless of course it was a nice Sachs-Dolmar 112 Silver Star. Which would be prominently displayed in the family room, regardless of what my wife says!
