Does one have to add a washer, or can I just change from spur to a powermate

Something is missing.
Your bearing & rim cannot be exposed to the oil pump like you have it. IMG_6799.PNG

The thrust washer you are missing shows up on the IPL and is also included in the Oregon Carving Kit designed for your saw shown on the Sawagain web link I provided earlier.

The washer is similar to the thrust washer common on the clutch assy of most all modern STIHL saws.

When I changed my Husky 353 from spur sprocket to rim sprocket (also outboard clutch) I also had to change the oil pump drive gear.

That's not what would cause this situation, but not something that I expected.

Some huskys that's true, and we have oil gears for the conversion, but this echo I can't find any info on. As you see in the photos, the washer is there.

Guess the grease is holding it. But even if it was gone. There's a huge gap between the two, spur-powermate

I suggest trying to locate the washer I showed you. Perhaps a call or email to Baileys should be on your list of things to do today ;)

That I've already done. Talks to a guy named mike.
Also called sawagain. The moment you posted it. Left a message and just tried again. Maybe there hunting. When they call back, I'll scratch that off my list to do.

Good thing you mentioned that Philbert I have a 353 with a spur and one or both of my 351s.
