Echo 3 cube struggle bus

Working on my 2nd, well first "pro" build racer. First was a 50cc clammy echo.

So, started with and idea, and a few parts piles and some awesome ideas from many saw builders.


Decided this cs5000 will make a nice platform to build from


going to try a stroker build.
Modding a 36mm crank to fit in place of the stock crank.

Nice thing about having lots of parts and pieces is I can use the smaller diameter clutch threads, bearing and drum to be able to use the longer stroke Crank.


Heated and pressed on a collar for the seal area and the worm stop.

This crank was my first time doing any thread operations on the lathe.


Fresh off the od grinder.

Bored the case to fit the crank, did need to turn the crank od some and grind the sides of the rod a tad.


New bearings Installed and crank centered up.



Cut the first cylinder too short. (This orange case was my mock up case)

Round 2 was a bit better.
Making an intake block

42mm bore 030/031 cylinder


Broke my top block support fin off had to get creative.


Put the blocl on a diet the. Welded some sleeves through the top holes, bolted and jb weld the block on.

Fwe more hurdles to go, but it is starting to look like something.

Pushing the limits of useable plating.


Even the intake is about maxed out.



But that is all part of the fun.

o ring fitted to the head.


Had to make a bushing to fit the oil worm and press that all on the crank with some green loctite.


Had to make a spacer to fill the counterbore, needed more sealing surface, the cylinder is a bit too narrow without it

Starting to come together. Hope to test cut tomorrow.....

49.8 still 3 cube legal.

Idea was more time area with the longer stroke.

Looks once it had the revs built up and you dropped it in Wood it kept them but if you dropped it in wood at a lower RPM it never made it up to the high RPM
