I'm very confused since I still have the issue and my card works on Amazon and eBay supposedly has an override on my account to override any restrictions whatsoever on their end. Payment info is the same as I used on Amazon too.

What makes a credit card less risky than a debit card?
You can have a credit card company stop payments, get you a refund, other stuff. You're essentially handing someone cash with a debit card. It's on you if there's a problem. Since it's an Ebay transaction you do have protections whether it's a debit or credit payment though.

You can fight charges (especially fraudulent charges) easier using a credit card. That is why I use PayPal as a middle man for paying for stuff. If there are issues, you can go through PayPal and have them help cancel charges or get refunds (when using their services payment +3%). If you just use your debit card, then you have to rely on your bank to back you up and a lot of times they won't especially if you get hacked.

credit cards use the banks money for things you purchase and then you pay the bank back.
debit cards use your money for things you purchase.
when a dispute happens the banks are more willing to fight to protect there money than they are defending yours.
credit cards can be used as a safety against disputes and fruad.

Use PayPal and a credit card. When problems arise PayPal and the credit card company helps to solve the issue.
When you get scammed on your debit card you are the only one fighting to get your money back.
If you use your card for very long it will get scammed or stolen information.
A whole lot easier to get your money back for undelivered items with a credit card.

I use my credit card to buy as much as possible, and I pay it off every month.
I use the banks money for free and they fight for me. Plus I have a bunch of points that I can use for flights
I also use it with PayPal if I decide too

A good reason to use Paypal and a credit card, is that using them and paying it off every month builds your credit score. Using a debit card is not reported to the credit buraus.

What makes a credit card less risky than a debit card?
Many folks have already done a good job of addressing your question but I will give you a real life example of a situation here that will show how much a "bank" will support a person.

About 15 years ago I wrote a paper check (yes they exist) for a small bill and mailed it off. About 10-14 days later on a Friday I get a letter in the mail from my bank saying they paid the check but in put me in overdraft and they charged me a $35 over draft fee. I checked my ledger and knew something was not right . Of course the bank was close until Monday. Well Saturday when I got the mail I had a stack of letters from the bank for ISF fees to the tune of $35 each. I went in on Monday to see what the hell was going on. The bank simply said I did not have the money in my account. I knew damn well I did have the money and requested they pull up a transaction history. When they pulled up a scan of the check that caused the first overdraft it was clearly written for $35.10. The problem was they deducted $3510.00. Had they deducted the corrected amount there would never have been an overdraft. They agreed to correct the incorrect amount deducted for the check but refused to do anything about the overdraft fees their error created. They said the checks are coded by a third-party and they are not responsible.

Great job bank!!!

If fraudsters get control, your bank account can be attacked directly and instantly. The money is gone. When a credit card charge is disputed, there is no charge to you while it is being investigated.

Do whatever you want. I'm just trying to help.
