Haven't done one of the older mufflers, is that all that's in there?

Yup just a birdcage, cut it off the reinforcement back plate and reinstalled that piece. There are tabs holding it in place + the muffler sandwiches it when the halves come together... so no need to tack weld/braze it like 7910 muffler. I do the 7900 mufflers the same way.

Wow, that is a lot of junk inside there. I am still trying to convince our estate owner to pick up a 79o0 from Andrew ;)
BTW, I use a Teng tools small screwdriver and just pound it thru the crimp with a small hammer. The Teng Tools screwdrivers are nearly indestructable. It just takes a few minutes.

I didn't weld/braze the bird cage/SLR base on neither of my 73's mufflers. ;)

I like the walbro carb and it has a beefier cylinder av spring setup than the 7900 series. I don’t like the t25 screws, wish they were t27 and it’s a shame parts are hard to get for these. Really nice saws and very similar to the dolkitas. C2DBD49E-298F-46DA-9B12-EA0473212671.jpegCACC5C08-116F-4272-A451-A4F8CA92E6D9.jpeg
