I dug up some info that Scott posted the older vents tend to clog up with sawdust. The newer style is supposedly better with this because the sintered material doesn’t let sawdust through.

I never understood why dolkita didn’t catch on as well. I think it has to do with dealer support not the actual product. I order all my husky parts online anyway... because all the local dealers are incompetent and I get the parts faster. So it doesn’t matter either way for me.

Mine is getting a 372 type filter for milling the dead Locust. I'm gona test this saw well. Need to fab up a spring bail.
Probably are overrated with Nikasil plated jugs and good bearings. I'm not going to chance it milling dead white oak and dead locust. Bad stuff in that wood like sand and mineral deposits that tear stuff up.
Not with a good filter. Been there done that. Just spray it with some filter oil on the mesh and use white. WD40 works in a pinch.
They stole that from Stihl imo. It works well to also filter liquids.
Just buy your common replacement parts in advance and most problems are covered. Two saws of the same parts family can avoid wasting some days or at least get back going right quick. Been there done that.
I also think that ANY OEM STIHL hose is WAY overpriced as well as many other replacement/ maintenance items
