So in last couple couple weeks I’ve had what I call Japanese hornets show up where I currently kept my firewood, tractor and mower. While the spray I have access to kills them(pretty much will kill any insect). More keep showing up and congregating in the same spot. Curious how y’all deal with them(or insects in general) or what would be attracting them this one exposed root.

Can you get a shop vac out there? If yes, set the hose by the entrance to where they are going, put a brick on it. Have the on switch on but unplugged. Go back and plug the extension cord in. The noise angers them and the hose takes care of the rest. I have used this technique on yellow jackets in the ground with 100% success.

Do you put water in the bottom of the vacuum to drown them?

I suppose a can of wasp killer up the vacuum hose whilst on and upwind of exhaust would definitely render them for sure dead.

In the evening when ground hornets are on best poor some gasoline in. Vapors go down killing them. Light it if you want to (I have[emoji2]).
The big paper hornet nests my friend would wait til evening and close them up in an old suitcase leaving it on sidewalk in a bad part of town.[emoji38]

Yeh Petrol fumes suffocates them. So if you can pour some into the entrance, and it gets into the nest, your on to a winner, it’s the quick way.
But if they are a bit to far in and the fumes don’t get them first time. Ant powder is an insecticide but is deactivated when damp. So just keep putting some around and in the entrance when it’s dry in the afternoon so the ones flying out die and the ones coming back eventually take it in to the nest.
