Hi,

I know it’s unlikely, but has anyone forced a patina to darken magnesium?

Just through experimenting I have found water and baking soda to do an excellent job, but I don’t know the long term affects / how to stop the baking soda from possibly damaging the mag long term / how best to neutralise the solution?

Thanks in advance

If a cylinder I boil them in a metal pan with a couple of dishwashing pods in the water, it will turn a shiny new cylinder quite dark and leaves the cylinder squeaky clean.
This is for the mag cases. I had to remove the old patina to build up a pocket, but I want to blend it all back in.
