Cutting large stump wood in half before splitting

I'm doing a job this week splitting sugar maple stump wood, 3-4 foot diameter. Maple is frozen inside, chain saw chisels kept dulling out as I cut the large logs in half or quartered them. Hand sharpened as best I can on the job.

Does frozen maple wood with the sap have a particular issue with cutting? Thanks. Will post pictures later of the job.

Maple that big usually comes from someone’s yard. Lawnmowers blew debris into the bark for years and around here plow trucks in the winter time throw sand into them and it gets into the wood. Semi chisel chain or .404 will both help
