I have not pulled them, but it's looking like I might have too at this point.

Does the 23hs have any plastic check valves inside? My neighbor said the department had filled the saw with straight strabil and it messed up the fuel lines and who knows what else.

If the problem persists after you remove and clean under the Welch plugs I would think you've narrowed it down to an ignition problem. I had a similar problem on a 920 and after rebuilding the carb twice, replacing lines and everything else it ended up being a busted connection on the coil that was concealed by shrink wrap.

I checked the nipple on my last go around through the saw. It wasn't plugged unfortunately.

I'm going to pull the Welch plugs when I get more free time and give that a shot.

In case your interested,You can buy one of those chinese carbs for a 272 husqvarna,to make it work you have to fill the impulse hole with jb weld,Then change the top fuel pump cap,the cap on the Tillitson will bolt right on the chinese carb, viola, new carb about 15.00.The chinese carbs work well by the way.

It's on the back burner at the moment. I have some family stuff that needs to be finished up before I start back up. I'll keep this thread going either way

Little update....I went this route this evening. You have to swap the choke lever and butterfly shafts from the Tilly as the 272 carb uses a different setup. Too late to try it tonight. I'll update in the morning if it was another fail or success☺️

I must admit that I never heard of a carb called HS-23, are you sure it isn't a HS-230 (that was used on the 670)?

One of the carb kits for that carb (and many other HS carbs) is called the RK-23HS btw.

HS part list: http://www.tillotson.ie/docs/HSPartsList.pdf

I attach a HS manual.
