Curly maple log

Had a large log sawed today exhibited curly when split in the top and I could see the curl on the leftover of hinge when tree was felled. Have it sawn and nothing is popping out here. How do you id it in rough sawed boards

To see the figure better, I usually tip water onto the timber (or if dressed Isopropyl alcohol on it).

Can't see any curl in that timber, but I don't have any experience with it. With the timber I mill figured grain is most often localised in certain parts of the tree.
