A 250lb 90cc saw with a 50" bar on it is not easy to start. It will hurt you drop starting it if you half ass it.

Boy, I would never think of drop starting a saw that heavy!!!

On a serious note, some of those Smittybilt 90+ cc saws were a real bear to start, almost stretched my arms.

Call me a sissy, but I'm starting to really like my MS440 cause it has comp relief, and the 044s don't. Just push that button for an easy warm start. If you are climbing over logs or in an awkward position, (like on a slope) I really appreciate having it.

Ditto when I have the milling stuff attached to the 046.

I have a favor to ask. I just finished muffler mods on my 6100 and 7910. I've tached and adjusted them, but they still seem fat in the wood. I'm by no stretch an expert on carb adjustments. Would someone be able to give me tutorial on how to adjust carbs in a good way?

I made a crude case splitter, and it split, but removing the crank from the case and the bearings from the case seem problematic. Is it just a matter of heating and banging?

Ditto for installation when the new stuff comes in (if it ever does).

Taking the whole thing apart is easy....putting back together is a bit of a trick unless you have the factory tools which do it cold. I need to work on making such things....

This is exactly my concern with saw work. Would like to know these tricks as Mike points out. Thanks guys!

I've got an assembled 034 crank case with junk bearings and probably a junk crank. I'll bring it with me and we can split it and knock out the bearings. I figure it would be a good one to demonstrate with since it's the same as the one your working on.

I was able to separate the crank from the case half, and the large race from the other crank half thanks to my HF $8 heat gun (only used the low setting) and a 15/16 impact socket, piece of Oak, and a hammer.

I still need to buy that nifty HF bearing puller tool to remove the inner race and other bearing from the crank. The local store does not have them, so will likely order on line.

I'm starting to think that with proper heat, inserting the new bearings may not be that difficult, but likely the crank will still not be easy.

Amazing what a little heat does.
