Does anyone know the average and /max temperature a chainsaw crankcase sees (while running of course). I have a scratch in a ms660 seal bore and trying to decide if I should dirko it or use a steel epoxy. If I go the epoxy rout I would apply a tiny amount to the scratch, push an oiled seal in to clear the excess and then remove the seal to let the resin cure without making the seal a permanent fixture. Of course I'd also remove the excess that was forced out by the seal and dirko the new seal as a precaution. The epoxy has a temp range of 225 F continuos to 300 F intermittent.

If your saying' you've got a scratch where you've removed an oil seal. And it's gonna leak a bit around the new oil seal if you don't fill it.

I'd Kleen it and just use dirko, peeps use that suff when they go sans gasket (no base gasket). I have used it to seal new seals (the ones with the metal edges) IE 026 /036.

Cheers
