It depends on what you’re used to for income but Knoxville and Chattanooga have a good bit of construction work that’s union and Non-union. I travel away to make more money than the area. If you have any more questions I can try to help you out all I can

Greenville, South Carolina is a very nice area. Cost of living is very low. People are friendly, there's no vehicle inspection or emission regulations.
If you have a good work ethic you can relocate anywhere, but it's appreciated here.

You guys have retarded property tax on new vehicles to get tags though.

I found riding the Harley through Knoxville down 129 to Tellico Plains a little too crazy at times. People driving around with their heads stuck up their asses.
Drove through Knoxville... i mean crashville a couple times in a motorhome towing a boat. Holy S-word! People drive like idiots. I realized why there were so many random semi truck skid marks everywhere. Left a couple myself from people cutting me off in the slow lane to make an exit.

I have been thinking the same thing for many years of moving from the commie state of Maryland and moving west or south.

Been looking around the south west corner of virginia. East kentucky, East tennessee and west north Carolina.

Property/houses seem reasonable. Just not sure how far i would have to drive for work or how much work is available.

I believe if you want to work you can always find something to do.

I hope it works out for you in your endeavors.

I have a residential tree service company now. Was a timber faller a few years as well.

You guys with residential tree biz experience would do well down south. I’m from north central AL and we get storms year round...hurricanes from the gulf, tornadoes, strong thunderstorms and even small ice storms every couple years with the resulting tree damage with really no off season.

I was looking hard in the tri cities area of tennessee. Seems like a few tree service companies there. Seems i just need to pony up and take a drive and explore some different areas and job opportunities. I felt like working under someone for a while maybe useful to get to know some people and learn the area.

I felt that the deep south was a bit to warm for me. But it may help with my ever present white finger on a cold day.

Yep, through traffic screws up us locals. If you ain’t driving 75-80, three wide screaming “Raise Hell, Praise Dale!” you need to stay in the slow lane. Just kidding, traffic in Knoxville is a nightmare anymore. We do have a lot of semi traffic and other through traffic that comes through here.

The tri-cities is where I live. There’s a few tree services around but mostly small ones. We only have about a 100 degree difference in the hottest and coldest day of the year

Yeah I remember her -- old "don't move here!" (kinda like the ugly girl who was never asked out, lonely, and miserable).

Dom,

Another thought would be Virginia or West Virginia. I lived in VA for about 6 years after college, and as long as you stay out of the urban areas, it's awesome. I lived about 40 miles west of DC in the Warrenton/Manassas area, and that was starting to get pretty grown up, but if you check out places like Roanoke or Charlottesville, or further south and west, it's just delightful.

I always liked the area you live in when traveling through.
