I’ve always heard the spark should be blue. However, I have over 70 running saws and I have NEVER seen a blue spark when testing with my inline spark tester.
Currently I’m trying to get a homie 330 running. Pre-tear down I had no spark. While torn down I retested and have reddish orange spark. I’d just as soon not have to tear this saw down again so I’d like to know is this adequate color
I know the color is reflective of the temperature but not sure how to judge. Also, can the spark voltage be tested with a volt meter?
Alas, so many questions, eh?

Instead of using an inline spark tester maybe just grounding your spark plug on the cylinder in a darkish room may yield the blue spark you desire.

I’ll give that a shot. Read where a wider plug gap is desirable for this type test. Es Verdad? Thanks

The wider gap is used to check the coils ability to put out adequate spark. No jump the gap, coil weak. Or you can get the neighbor's kid to come over and get him to stick his finger in the plug boot while you pull the starter cord. If it knocks the crap out of him you got good spark.

Tried it with a wide gap; proximately twice normal. Jumped the gap. Nice bluish color. Guess something was grounding the spark before tear down. That’s only reason I tore it down. Thanks guys
Oh Steve thinking the neighbor kid might be a little too smart for that. Would be fun though
