Old Chevy C series.
Yessir. It's a 1980 Custom Deluxe, my Grandpa ordered in 1979. It has a 4 speed manual and a 250 cid, straight 6 with 350k on it and it's never been rebuilt. It's my "daily driver", even though I don't drive every day and it still hauls loads over a ton every week. It puts in a lot of work, for a pickup that old.

My other pickup is a 1985 Chevy Silverado, 6.2 diesel, 700r4. It only has 140k on it. Both are 2wd.

Square body's are about all I've driven my whole life.

I have always been a Ford guy and made fun of Chevy's. On a quiet night In the 1970's and 1980's you could hear a Chevy truck rust. I joke but it is tough to argue with the durability of a small block Chevy engine. Dad was a Ford guy and bought a new F150 4x4 in June 1978. It was a plain jane model with a 300 6 cyl, 4 speed, and AM radio.

It is still in the shed with his cigar butts in the ashtray

This one is pretty rusted, but the Silverado is straight and has no rust. It seems a lot of the time, people follow what their Dad or Grandparents, or their family buys. Chevy's are just what my Grandparents, Dad and Uncles always ran, so I pretty much have as well.

I've had 4 Fords. An 82 Escort, 82 F-150 with a 300 straight 6, a 84 F-150 4wd 302 maybe (that thing was a pile of crap) and a 93 T-Bird 5.0. That straight 6 shouldn't have survived what I put it through, but somehow it did. That 5.0 was too quick for a young dumb kid like I was when I had it.

Chevy small blocks for a long time were a dime a dozen and I like the parts commonality of parts with square body's. Pretty crazy how much nice ones go for nowadays.
