Cheap Carbs for Weed Whacker

Are there any of those cheapo carbs you get on ebay any good, or are they all pretty much crap? That's all, thanks.

they can be hit or miss. I go thru them when they arrive, clean everything & make sure the needle height is adjusted right. I've had good luck since I started doing that.

Never got a cheapo carb to run my 4 stroke Honda weed wacker more than half speed. Replaced it with OEM and runs like a champ. Definitely worth the gamble at $17 vs $45 for OEM.

Definitely hit or miss. You have to balance the cost vs. time wasted if it doesn't work.
I think my success rate is currently something like 60%.
Doesn't seem to matter whether it is a cheap no-name item off Amazon/ebay or if it is a "brand name" like Hipa or Proline.
Check the return policy, usually a return is not a problem if it is defective. It may take some time however.

I have had a similar experience to these other guys 2 bad but probably 8-10 work fine. I prefer Amazon because when they don't work they are easy to return. Only question is can you afford to wait if it doesn't work the first time

Im in he same boat with the experience. Hit or miss but mostly they are good unless its assembled wrong or dirty. Dont trust the yellow fuel lines they all come with, that stuff is junk.

Kind of a timely thread. I have a old (80s?) maybe Craftsman (green cowling) trimmer and I think it needs a kit. I have not taken it apart yet though. Today I was wondering maybe I should just buy a carb got to be close to the cost of a kit.

A friend gave me a cheapo Homelite wacker and the primer bulb went. I got a AM carb off ebay that was <$ than the bulb costs. I had nothing into the wacker so I went with it and surprised to have no problems

I just got a amazon carb for my old echo brushcutter and it worked great!!

I put a amazon carb on a newer stihl trimmer and it worked “ok” didnt want to idle the best. Bought a oem only to find out it was still made in china but at least it idled good

Put a amazon carb on a troybuilt pressure washer and its been good.

when it comes to carbs and electronic components like coils etc its best to stick to oem vs knockoffs

Well, I have a question, I just fixed my old craftsman it had a rotted off fuel line. On this machine the ID of the Primer and the Fuel line is the same as are the carb fuel barbs. The holes into the tank are slightly different though. I think the ID is 1/8 or slightly less +/_ the OD sizes are different. I need some of this small line, does anyone know what are the common sizes of these small lines are? If you know off hand that would be great otherwise it's off to the calipers at some point. I'd like to have maybe 6' of each size. Just curious if anyone knows off hand.

Homedepot has random fuel lines for small engines in the garden section where lawnmower blades and filters are!
