Dear Experts

I have got Stihl chainsaw MS251C hardly used

I found it is very hard to turn tension knob when chain gets loose

I have attached the photos showing no debris in the house and I can't see any damage

What further troubleshoots I need to consider to find where is the culprit ?

One video in the link below and few photos are attached

Thx

It’s hard to tension the chain because the black tension knob is hard to turn? How loose are you making the cover when you back off the bar on it with the hand wheel and flap? If your leaving the nut snug and not loosening it enough that will make extra drag on bar making it hard to slide bar to tension. Otherwise lube everything with a light oil and work it some, the big metal wheel on the bar is on an eccentric and is what slides bar to tension the chain make sure the bearing in the center is lubed. Lube the black wheel a little and put back together making sure it all meets up correctly. And depending what you consider stiff may be normal because they will never be super smooth.

just dump that tension system and replace with a standard chain adjuster. they fit right in.
Some people like not having a scrench all the time like if you use if it just in back of a side by side or something. Very convenient to have a small combo gas/bar oil container and a saw with tooless bar adjuster. They work just fine for the intended purpose of limited use saw pretty handy for cleaning deer stands ect where you can put chain back on if thrown cleaning brush ect. With no scrench in back pocket poking you or falling out.

They have their place, but are not for everyone. I don't care for them, but do have a Husky 440 with one. Chain jumped off while using it and thought I would have to go back to the shop and get a scrench, forgetting that it was the screnchless tensioner...made it quick and easy to get the chain back on and back to work.
