My sort of rule of thumb is when your at work you work not repair saws. Sure something small to keep a unit running is fine but if a bit more troubleshooting is required that happens on my watch on my bench. It would take a serious amount of bad luck for me to not be able to finish a job. Multiple saw failures would have to happen like more than say 3. I am very cautious and take care with my gas, only buy it from one trusted source about twice per week and will never use old gas in equiptment. If it's older than 2 weeks it goes in the car. Keeping your tools in good shape is part of your job. Those who neglect this are usually the ones having 'bad luck'. I seen & worked with folk like that. They earn a packed & run clapped out saws with worn parts, never clean or inspect their gear, don't sharpen their chains instead drop them off and pay to have them sharpened etc.
