i mean someone to do a stroke crankshaft that has had success
did you cut your cover? qujck saw just a 026 topend and port work?
It’s for chip clearanceis that for weight? couldn't you run an 026 topend? in the same 45cc class how would they know?
thats saw porn at its best. thats a mean set up i was thinking about building a 029 with 039 top wnd this spring just as a wood saw. a guy is selling a 450 do you like that modelI’ve got a 46mm jug off an 028S fitted to an 026 case here. Destroked with a standard 024 30mm crank, it just makes class that includes the NE 346.
It currently has an 034 piston in it. The head has been cut for 200 psi.
It’s tricky. The timing came out odd from the swap.
It’s just sitting. Never got around to finishing it.
The 346 is simply a better design for racing. Very tough to beat a quad with a dual port saw.
Also did a few 44mm 026 with a 246 piston and fingers with an 044 carb. Within class rules, but I don’t think it can come anywhere near a properly done race 346.
Here’s a place for bearings and balls:

I was gonna build my own, but it’s a gamble and the balls aren’t cheap. They are also a different diameter than the stock steel balls you will find in the donor bearing because of the different expansion coefficients between the zircon balls and the steel ones.
Jasha (aka Treeslinger) did build his own bearings which he said outlasted regular steel bearings by 3-4 fold. I got this info second hand, but the application they lasted for was professional falling/logging.
Edit
It’s been a while, but I believe it was Silicon Nitride, not Zircon, that is recommended for saws. I’ve been out of this thought for a while. The company makes the full bearings you would want.
nothing professional ive only built a couple "race" saws its mostly small town competitionsHave you done any racing before or just getting into it now?
nothing on the level im trying to have this saw builtnothing professional ive only built a couple "race" saws its mostly small town competitions
028s jug on a 026 bottom? what piston did you run?
can you tell me who does work 2 piece jug?
how much did you have to de stroke 024 crank?I’ve got a 46mm jug off an 028S fitted to an 026 case here. Destroked with a standard 024 30mm crank, it just makes class that includes the NE 346.
