I see that Echo makes a "Purge Bulb Kit" that they say fits many models. Does anyone know if the kit will fit on a CS-490 chainsaw? Thanks, Ed

If CS-490 was equipped with a purge bulb, then yes. But it isn't AFAIK, so buying this kit won't change anything here. The carburetor would have to be replaced, etc.

I installed a primer bulb on my CS-501p, which is twin to the 490's. I drilled a hole into the metering chamber and added a fitting, but of course it pulls some air into the bulb because there is no check valve in the idle fuel circuit. Then instead of plumbing the fuel return to the tank I dumped it into the intake, like a real primer bulb instead of a purge bulb.

If you just want to dump into the intake, no need to pull through carb just have a separate tank line to pull from and dump into intake/carb bore.

Yeah, that's true, but this will help fill the fuel line. I didn't feel like putting an extra hole in the fuel tank. Those saws are hard to get to the top of the tank.
